My Grandmother and Me

My Daughter and Me

I am Betsy and I love baking.  Betsy Baking Company unofficially began in my grandmother’s kitchen when I was a pipsqueak.  I now have four kids – two sets of twins! –   and wanted to do something that combined my love of baking with my love of family.  After years of happily hearing, “This rugelach is AMAZING! You should sell this,” I decided to take the chance and the feedback has been overwhelming!  I adore sharing the homemade and loved desserts I’ve been making for my husband, kids and family for years.

I am passionate about food quality. I firmly believe that a sweet homemade treat will always be better than a pre-packaged dessert with a long shelf life. I want my family to enjoy eating real desserts baked with love and I am passing on the love of baking to my children:  generation to generation.

I come from a tasty line of family bakers.  My great-grandmother, Cele, settled in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1905 from Kiev, Russia.  She baked until she could no longer.  She baked the old- fashioned way using premium, all-natural ingredients and good ol’ instinct.  A piece of Betsy Baking Company sweetness evokes nostalgic memories of old-world baking and Grandma’s kitchen.

My baked goods are made by hand, started from scratch and using the finest ingredients possible.  I make lekvar (the thick puree inside the rugelach) from premium dried Turkish apricots and California plums.  The dough is made with high-quality cream cheese and natural AA-grade sweet cream butter.  My rugelach is crammed with premium almonds and walnuts and raisins.  Each piece of rugelach is hand rolled and generously stuffed before being tossed in a cinnamon-sugar bath.
